Cristobal by Cristobal Balenciaga Cristobal by designer Cristobal Balenciaga has been on the market about ten years now (introduced 1998) and remains one of those famous but little-known scents. I don't know a whole lot of people who wear this scent. The top notes are mainly fig but there is a bit of pineapple and bergamot in there, too. It's sweet. It's not even sweetly sweet, it's more like screechingly sweet. Fortunately, top notes settle down (as they always do) and the heart notes are jasmine, rose, vanilla, patchouli and amber. By far the dominant element in the heart notes are the vanilla tones. I can't really claim this as truth, but when I smell Cristobal and think about it, it's almost like there are different types of vanilla in there, all related but all still unified as vanilla. Cristobal lasts a long time. If you're partial to the sweet scents and adore vanilla, this is a perfect perfume for you. It comes in an elegant bottle and wears exceedingly well.I do not recommend this scent for those withering types who might be embarassed by a perfume that is not wispy faint. Even a drop of this stuff can be smelled across the room. Fortunately, it's a great scent. You just have to be ready for something bold.
