This is really a youthful fragrance, and I am the kind of person who was never actually young. It comes in a playful bottle with a festive pink stripe around it that wraps around the bottle and spirals on the top. Pink Sugar is one of many scents on the market right now using the sweet touch.

I can still remember the first time I really wore a sugary scent. I was mesmerized. It was different, it was fun, it was extremely pleasant. Like most perfume people, I'm also a bit of a foodie and I can't say that I don't have many happy associations with sugary foods. Since that time, I have a special place in my heart for sugar scents although I must admit I don't wear them too often.

Pink Sugar is actually a bit more complex than the standard sugar-is-sweet kind of scent although you won't be able to miss the sugar which arrives in the form of a note the manufacturer calls, "cotton candy." Pink Sugar tempers the cotton candy with bergamot, raspberry, lily of the valley, and even licorice. The base notes include vanilla and musk, and the vanilla is magnified by the cotton candy.

It's a pleasant scent, lots of fun, but there is no way in the world you can imagine Bette Davis in one of her classic movies wearing anything remotely like this. Joan of Arc would not have worn this. Neither would Jackie Kennedy or Marilyn Monroe.

That being said, I own a bottle of the stuff and I happen to notice that it's a bit used up. So I guess I, not being Joan of Arc or Bette Davis or any of those other women, must wear it. It's fun, ultra casual, very youthful, and sporty. It's a great thing to spritz on when you're wearing shorts and flip-flops. Come to think of it, that's what I'm wearing now. For the casual perfume diva, this is fun stuff.
